Pure metal-based alloy materials are used in many thermal sprays for coating processes such as metalizing and spray & fuse hard facing. Pure metal-based alloy is used to provide protection against a high temperature of wear and oxidation for a simple coating that facilitates build-up repair.

Popular Pure Metal Based Alloy Coating Materials

Nickel Based (Ni-Based) Alloys

Ni-based alloy are coating material that can be used at a high temperature and useful in many industries for thermal spray.

Examples:

  • NI-101 (Atomized)

The NI 101 powder is easy to machine and it produces moderate hard and dense coating over the surface. This atomized powder is useful up to 1000°F. The NI101 contains corrosion resistance and good oxidation properties. This is used for ceramic bond coating and useful to repair SS and Ni parts.

  • NI-105 (Atomized)

The NI 105 powder has good bonding characteristics and used to produce a smooth and bright coating on the substrate. This powder is used to facilitate general repairs of parts and resist corrosive gases up to 1800°F.

Molybdenum Based (Mo-Based) Alloys

Mo based alloys have some properties which make it useful in the manufacturing process of heat exchanger units and rocket engine components for many applications.

Examples:

  • MO-103 (Agglomerated)

The MO 103 material has good wear resistance property. It has a property of self-bond with wide variety of metallic surfaces. MO 103 is a very hard material and has natural lubricity which added to its impeccability.

  • MO-130-2 / 1193F (Agglomerated)

The MO 130-2 powder has the same property as MO 103. It is useful for temperature up to 600°F or 316°C.

Iron Based (Fe-Based) Alloys

Fe based alloys are less expensive as compared to cobalt and nickel-based alloy. Iron-based alloys are excellent and can be used in many applications.

Examples:

  • FE-271-4 (Atomized)

The FE 271-4 powder produces a very smooth and excellent coating over the surface of the substrate. FE 271-4 powder is used for dimensional repair and protects parts from erosion and fretting.

  • FE-108-3 (Atomized)

The FE 108-3 has excellent corrosion properties. This is the iron-based alloys that are useful below 1200°F.

Cobalt-Based (Co-Based) Alloys

New Co-based superalloys are better as compared to the traditional Ni-based alloy.

Examples:

  • CO-106-1 (Atomized)

The CO 106-1 has excellent wear properties and withstand at high temperature. CO 106-1 powder produces dense and hard coatings.

  • CO-285 (Atomized)

The CO 285 is produced smooth sprayed coating and has excellent oxidation resistance. It can be used in high-temperature applications at a place of WC.

Aluminium-Based (Al-Based) Alloys

The Al-based alloys are useful in many aerospace manufacturing processes before the introduction of metal skinned aircraft.

Examples:

  • AL-102 (Atomized)

The AL 102 can provide a bright, shiny and smooth finishing and it is more dense and hard as compared to pure aluminium. AL 102 powder can be used to repair Mg and Al-based parts.

  • AL-104 (Atomized)

The AL 104 is used to produce a very dense coating. AL 104 powder has excellent electrical conductivity.

Copper-Based (Cu-Based) Alloys

The Cu based alloys have superior oxidation, hot corrosion, and excellent wear resistance properties as compared to their Ni-based counterparts.

Examples:

  • CU-104 (Atomized)

The easily machined CU 104 provides resistance to friction, adhesion, wear and corrosion at low temperature. These properties make it a very good bearing material.

  • CU-116 (Atomized)

The CU 116 is used to protect critical parts from Wear, Corrosion, Adhesion, and friction. It is also used to produce dense coating containing a low oxidation level.
