Zinc Wires
The sprayed zinc coating is rough and slightly porous on zinc wires, with a selected gravity, compared to zinc metal. Zinc corrosion products tend to fill the pores because the zinc corrodes within the atmosphere. The zinc wire coating adherence mechanism is usually mechanical, counting on the kinetic energy of the sprayed particles of zinc. No zinc-iron alloy layers are present.
Aluminum Wires
Aluminum is a poorer electrical wire compared to copper, so it is infrequently used in small applications such as home wiring. However, when copper prices skyrocketed in the 1960s aluminum wires became a favorable choice.
Babbitt wire
Babbitt wires are used in the thermal spray for the thermal coating process. The thermal spray gun uses an electric arc wire spray or flame wire spray process for coating. White metals can be referred to as Babbitt wire. These white materials can be tin or lead, antimony, or copper.
