Dust collector

A Dust Collector is used as a recovery system in a sand blasting machine to collect particles.  It also separates very small particles like talcum which cannot be reused in the process. It separates the dust from the reuse particles and makes them useable again in the process.

Types of Dust Collector

Cyclone Type Dust Collector

A cyclone dust collector is used to separate the fine particles through cyclonic motion. This is the basic and most conventional way to separate the heavy dust particles from the air using a centrifugal (cyclonic or vortex) effect due to continuous tangential rotation. It contains lower power consumption to separate the dust particles. A cyclone dust collector is frequently used as a pre-treatment to remove coarse particles.

Fabric Filter Dust Collector

A fabric filter dust collector is also known as a shaker baghouse. Fabric filter collector using a shaker cleaning system to remove the collected sand/powder particles from the surface of the filter media by mechanically shaking the filter bags. Cleaning can be done manually or by using a motor driving an eccentric which in turn has a rod connected to the filter bags.

The fabric filter dust collector is open at the bottom and closed at the top. The fabric filter dust collector is fixed in the tube sheet at the bottom and at the top attached to the shaking mechanism. With this arrangement of filters, the dust is collected on the inside of the filter bag.

This filter bag does not contain any rings or cages. The flow of dust and gas to the filter bags is stopped during the cleaning process. To achieve continuous cleaning the unit needs to be subdivided into a number of isolatable compartments, such that one compartment at a time may be taken off-stream for cleaning.

Pulse Jet Dust Collector

A reverse pulse-jet dust collector cleaning system is used to remove the collected sand-particles from the surface of the filter media by injecting high-pressure compressed air.

The filter bag is open at the top and closed at the bottom and the filter bag being fixed on the tube sheet at the top. With this arrangement, the dust is collected on the outside of the filter bag. In pulse jet dust collector filter bag normally contains a metallic cage that prevents the filter bag from collapsing.  The row of filter bags is cleaned simultaneously by introducing compressed air at the top of the filter bag.
