Copper slag is used as an abrasive in a sand blasting machine for the surface preparation process. The sand blasting process is one of the surface preparation methods in shipbuilding and ship repair industries. It is the major significant source in the generation of waste to reuse the substrate after the blasting process.

Sand blasting is a mandatory process for the surface preparation before the painting process in shipbuilding or for the removal of the old paint including primer coating from the surface of the steel in ship repair.

Copper slag price is very low as compare to other grits. It is mainly used in sand blasting to remove thick & tough dust and rust from heavy machines and tanks. Sand blasting is well-known for its fine finishing, smooth edges, and accuracy. This product is appreciated for its hardness and free from silica.

Abrasive sand blasting is a highly concentrated stream of small abrasive particles projected at a surface removing rust, mill scale, or other contaminants creating a rough surface good for adhesion.  

In the sand blasting process, the surface roughness achieved after the blasting process depends on the type of abrasive media used. And the rate of rust and paint removal also depends on the type of abrasive media used in the blasting process.

In nowadays cu slag is used widely in Shipbuilding and ship repair industries because of its low cost, more area coverage, and its high efficiency.
