Product Overview

Steel Grit is fabricated by crushing, screening the resulting abrasive media, and tempering it to the desired hardness. These abrasive Steel Grits are specially used in every type of wheel machine and also for blast rooms where nozzles are employed in air blasting. Their sharp edges help in cleaning, etching, and smoothening the blasting surface easily.

Steel Grit Blasting Media

Steel Grit Blasting Media is made by crushing toughened shots after examination of abrasive media and tempering to achieve the desired hardness. It is utilized in rust elimination where the speed of cleaning is high and a rough finish is suitable. Steel grit is a crushed steel shot. They are used for different applications (shot blasting machine, shipbuilding, pipe building, steel construction, granite cutting, tank manufacturing, etc.).

These products adopt the raw materials which are carefully selected, and are added with the alloys with the appropriate proportion, and are transformed into steel grains after the electric furnace smelting process. After this high-temperature process, these steel grains break into steel grit which is further classified into various categories of grit by automatic screen classification.

Its superior hardness and confined microstructure provide maximum durability or life and impact energy transfer. It provides a very fast stripping action for many types of surface cleaning from steel and other foundry metals. Steel grit is Softer than aluminum oxide, but in an angular shape, steel grit will not break as simply getting it perfect for creating an etched surface on metal. Quickly strips contaminants from steel and foundry metals. Used in wheel blast and pressure blasting systems. It effectively produces an etching on hard metal surfaces for better adhesion of coatings including paints, enamel, and rubber.

Steel Grit Abrasive

Size ranges for steel grit abrasive range from G14 to G120. In harsh blast applications, Steel Grit's angular design causes deeper anchor blast patterns while still allowing for recycling. Pipe painting, epoxy coating preparation, structural steel, and bridge blasting are some typical uses for steel grit.

Steel grit and steel shot are members of the family of steel abrasives, which also include steel grit. Steel shot is made of circular steel balls, although some applications call for steel grit, which has sharper edges.

Steel grit should be tougher than the material it is abrading because it is used as an abrasive. So while making steel grit, high carbon and high alloy steels are commonly used. Steel grit is typically constructed of stainless steel shot to prevent corrosion, which may happen if ordinary carbon steel were used, from showing up on the completed product.
